Her Version:

On June 21, 2003, we had plans to attend a local party with a few friends.  An afternoon nap was definitely in order if I was going to keep up with the festivities that evening.  As I was sleeping, Andy began nudging my arm.  He repeated over and over, "Come look, there's a Crane in the front yard trying to get the Koi in the pond."  Half awake, he is pulling my hand as I stumbled behind him.  We reached the bridge and he positioned me on one side while he took his place on the other side.  As he was pulling out a piece of paper, I noticed two glasses of wine in the middle of the bridge, one on either side of the railing.  In that moment, this is what he said, "This front yard represents our life and what we can accomplish together.  It's time for it to represent our life together.  By joining me half way across the bridge, we will unite and be one over the river of life."  We walked to the middle of the bridge, my eyes filling with tears, he asked me to marry him and I said "YES"!  We toasted one another, kissed and hugged in the middle of the bridge.    I couldn't have asked for a more romantic proposal!  It was the perfect day.

His Version:

It took only a few minutes to write the poem, I proposed, then said, "Okay, let's head to the party"!
